STA JUNIOR COMBINED AGE GROUPING COMPETITION 2012

STA’s programme for 2012 will be, on the whole, similar to the one for 2011. The sta junior extra competition is however cancelled for 2012. In its place STA will introduce another individual competition called The STA Junior Combined Age Grouping’s Competition. The Comnpetition will have 3 groupings namely 12 & Under, for 12 years old, 11 years old and 10 years old; 15 & Under for 15 years old, 14 years old and 13 years old and 18 & Under for those who are 18 years old, 17 years old and 16 years old. Under circumstances considered appropriate by the STA Tournament Sub-Committee a player may play in an age grouping 1 higher than its own.

Age qualification will be as of the actual date of Competition.

The Competition will have 5 Tournaments and are for Boys’ and Girls’.

For each Tournament a compass draw will operate. The winners of the 1st Round will proceed on the Principal Draw and the 1st Round losers will take continue in the Consolation Draw. A loss following a Bye is considered a 1st match loss and therefore the player qualifies for the Consolation Draw. A Bye is not considered a 1st Round win. The match format will be on the best of 2 Tie-Break Sets with a 12- point Tie-Break to decide when the score is at 1 set all. There after the principal Draw will proceed on the same format while the Consolation Draw will be played on Pro-Set format.

The objective of this Compeition is to provide an opportunity for younger players in their respective groupings to play against their immediate older opponents.

There will be 5 such Tournaments, the 5th being the Masters which will comprise of players who have achieved the best required points from the Principal Draw matches.

All Competitions will be held at the MBPJ KELANA JAYA TENNIS CENTER, Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya.
