STA JUNIOR CHALLENGE COMPETITION 2011 BY CIMB FOUNDATION - updated 21 February, 2011

The First Tournament of the Competition was completed on the 13th of February. As scheduled the tournament started on the 29th of January at Kelana Jaya. However non-stop rain on the 30th hampered the programme so much 14 matches had to be postponed to the 12th of February when the last match of the day ended at 10:30 pm. Came the 12th of February it was not as plain sailing as expected, as Tony Chin, Saw Wye Kenn, Sheikh Mohd Ameer and Stefan Gligorov were involved with the Sport Excel Circuit which started the day before. With the cooperation of En Hamid Sajuri, referee of the Sport Excel matches involing Tony Chin (against Ahmad Deedat) and Stefan Gligorov (against Sri Aakash) were re arranged and completed on the 12th with the others save that the Wye Kenn and Sheikh Ameer’s match could not take place but was rescheduled for 11:00 am on the 13th at NTC Jalan Duta. Finally at about 1:00 pm that day the Tournament was completed. At the end the players standings were as follows:-

SPORTS EXCEL COMPETITION - MAIN DRAW - updated 24 February, 2011

At the first leg of the Sport Excel 14 & Under Competition held on the 11th to the 15th of February our players, particularly the boys did well. Tony Chin Yen Tong emerged champion, while Mohd Khairil Anas reached the semi-finals (beaten by the eventual champion, Tony Chin) and Talhah Rahizam also reached the same level (losing to the eventual runner up). Sheikh Amir Ahmad, reached the quarter finals losing to Tony. Mohd Ashraf Safian and Stefan Gligarov lost in the second round to Rohaizat Achop, after a very close fight and, to Mohd Khairil Anas respectively. Stefan Gilgorov, who has only turned 10 years old did very well in the doubles reaching the semi finals partnering Gerish Navil, and, so did Tony Chin and Saw Wye Kenn losing in the other semi final to the eventual winners.

The girls did not do as well, with, however, Svea Zuber, Sagung Putri and Taraf Afzalirad reached the singles quarterfinals while Tan Jia Yi made it to the semi finals only to lose to the eventual winner.
